DILFO was founded by Paul Dillon and Edgar Fournier after the closure of their former employer, J.R. Seguin & Fils. Together with a dedicated team—including Georges St. Jacques, Richard Gadde, Earl Gadde, Donald Suprenant, Armand Fournier, and Pierrette Simpson—they launched operations in a modest 2,000 sq. ft. warehouse on Star Top Road in Ottawa.
With rapid growth, DILFO purchased a 7,000 sq. ft. facility at 1500 Star Top Road, laying the foundation for larger-scale operations.
Co-founder Paul Dillon was appointed Chairman of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Ottawa, marking the company’s growing leadership role in the local construction community.
DILFO invested in its first automated plasma cutting machine, enhancing productivity and expanding capabilities in sheet metal fabrication.
DILFO contributed to the design-build team for the Palladium (now Canadian Tire Centre), the iconic home of the Ottawa Senators.
The team completed major renovations and expansions to both its office and shop facilities, ensuring space for continued growth.

Danny Dillon was named Chairman of the Ottawa Construction Association. Beyond industry leadership, DILFO continued to invest in the community—supporting organizations like CHEO, the Ottawa Food Bank and the YMCA. They also played a major role in building the Wabano Centre for Aboriginal Health, a vital hub for healing and culture.
Recognized as one of Ottawa’s Best Places to Work for multiple years running. During this time, DILFO also invested in cutting-edge fabrication technology, adding a laser cutting machine and a waterjet cutter to expand its prefabrication capabilities.
From a small Ottawa warehouse to one of Eastern Ontario’s leading mechanical contractors, DILFO proudly marks 45 years of powering projects, people, and communities.
