Accessibility Policy

Our Statement of Commitment

At DILFO, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible environment for all individuals. We recognize the importance of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. 2005, S.O. 2005, c. 11 (AODA) in promoting equal opportunities and removing barriers for people with disabilities. In line with this commitment, we pledge to continuously improve our policies, practices, and services to ensure accessibility and usability for everyone.

We aim to create an environment that respects and values the dignity and independence of all individuals. We believe diversity is a strength, and will work to meet and uphold AODA standards, making our organization a place where everyone can fully participate and thrive.

Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

Areas of Implementation

Employment

Over the next several years, our organization is committed to enhancing accessibility in the recruitment process. We will implement measures to ensure that job postings, application procedures, and interview processes are accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. This includes providing accessible formats of materials, accommodating requests for alternative interview formats, and promoting equal opportunities for candidates with diverse abilities.

Customer Service

In our commitment to providing excellent customer service, we will prioritize accessibility improvements. Over the next few years, we will continue to invest in training for our staff to better serve customers with disabilities, ensuring that communication is clear and effective. Our goal is to create an environment where customers of all abilities feel welcome, and where their needs are met with respect and accommodation. We will regularly assess and update our customer service policies to align with AODA standards and the evolving best practices in accessibility.

Training

To foster a culture of inclusivity and understanding, our organization will implement comprehensive training programs focused on accessibility. Employees at all levels will receive training on AODA requirements, inclusive communication practices, and strategies for accommodating individuals with disabilities. This ongoing commitment to education will empower our team to proactively identify and eliminate barriers, contributing to a more accessible and inclusive workplace.

Communication

Clear and accessible communication is fundamental to an inclusive environment. Our multi-year plan includes initiatives to enhance communication accessibility. This involves providing information in various formats, such as plain language and accessible digital content, ensuring that everyone, regardless of ability, can access and understand critical information. We will regularly assess and update our communication methods to align with accessibility standards and feedback from our diverse community.

By implementing this multi-year AODA Accessibility Plan, we affirm our dedication to creating a workplace that values diversity and actively promotes inclusivity. Through ongoing efforts and regular assessments, we aim to meet and exceed AODA standards, creating an environment where everyone can participate fully and equitably.
